We first met Teddy when Sandra from Cats’ Aid brought him to us to foster for a while in the summer of 2012. He was really thin, had a broken jaw that was being held together by wires, matted and dirty fur. He was a really sorry sight and was obviously very frightened.Initially, all he would do was sleep a lot, and eat a small bit ever so often. Eventually as he became stronger, he got a little more confident with us, and one day decided to sit in my lap – I took this as a sign of acceptance and trust – and Paul and I were totally smitten and couldn’t bear to give him up! We then realized he was completely deaf, but this made us love him even more…! It’s not been a year and a half since Teddy’s adopted us, and he’s spoiled cat in many ways though we don’t go overboard with treats as he’s an indoor cat and needs to watch his weight! He loves to play in the evenings, his favourite game is where we chase each other from room to room (like tag) before bed. He also loves his feather toy and his one particular mouse.
He isn’t a lap cat, and is often subjected to enforced cuddling sessions. He is very social though, and needs to be in the same room as everyone else. He also loves boxes and loves to sit in them, no matter the size! He has a very loud meow and likes to demonstrate it at 5:00 a.m.
So to round it off, we are thrilled to bits that Teddy came into our lives and chose us. We love him very much and look forward to the next 15 – 17 years of 5:00 am wakeup calls, bed-time chases and love.
